JDA Kings take first playoff game over Vipers

The County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings are up a game in the first round of the playoffs. The Kings beat the Sexsmith Vipers 5-1 Tuesday night at home at the County Sportsplex.

The Junior B team finished the regular season with a 19-15-2 record, giving them 36 points for third place in the North West Junior Hockey League. The Vipers were last in sixth place with 25 points.

Game two will go Friday in Sexsmith, then the teams will return to the County the next day. If needed, game four is scheduled for February 25th and game five for February 28th.

The other NWJHL first round series is between the Fairview Flyers and North Peace Navigators. The first place Fort St. John Huskies and second place Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks both have a bye into the second round.
