Four year sentence handed to drug trafficker

A man arrested as part of a large drug bust in Grande Prairie has been sentenced to four years in jail. Arte Abdillie Jama, or “Fresh” as he was known on the street, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in Calgary last week.

A warrant for Jama’s arrest was issued after $412,000 cash, 915 grams of cocaine, 507 fentanyl pills, 10 ounces of crystal meth, and two ounces of heroin were seized by RCMP from two apartments and two vehicles in the city on March 1, 2015. He turned himself in to police in Edmonton a few days later.

Also arrested as part of the raid was Abdikarim Farah. In March 2017, he was given a 15-month conditional sentence after pleading guilty to possession of stolen property.
