GoFundMe for crash victim almost reaches goal in four days

The GoFundMe started for a man killed in a crash in Grande Prairie last Monday has almost reached its goal. The campaign that started four days ago has already raised $29,155 of its $30,000 goal as of Wednesday morning.

Mahak Sandhu was killed in a hit and run on October 29th when a stolen Ford F-350 crashed into Sandhu’s Volkswagen at the intersection of 100 Street and 68 Avenue. He was taken to the hospital but died of his injuries.

The 26-year-old moved to Canada in 2010 for school and settled in Edmonton. The page says he was newly married and was on his way home from work when he was hit. Since the GoFundMe started, 389 people have donated including many who didn’t know Sandhu but felt compelled to help.

One comment from Manpreet Sandhu says, “I didn’t know Mac, but from what I hear he was a pillar of strength and encouragement for those around him. I hope his family and friends find peace and the strength to move forward with his memories.”

Another from Rupi Panesar says, “I don’t know him but I can empathize with the family and this is the least I can do. May God give them the strength to deal with their loss and bless his soul.”

All funds raised will go towards helping pay for Sandhu’s funeral. To donate, visit the page on GoFundMe.
