It took more than two months for a Grande Prairie man to realize he had won the lottery. Rueben Aldred won $100,000 on the April 25th LOTTO 6/49 EXTRA Draw, but says he typically holds on to his tickets for a few months before checking them.
“When the jackpot was big in June, I thought I should check if any prizes were won in Alberta,” he says. “I looked online and saw that there were a few LOTTO MAX and EXTRA wins in Alberta recently, so I took my tickets to the store. I scanned this ticket and I couldn’t believe it – the EXTRA winner in Alberta was me!”
Aldred became a winner when he correctly matched the last six digits of the drawn EXTRA number. He says he doesn’t have any major plans for the extra cash yet.
“For now I’m just going to pay some bills and put most of it in the bank.”
The winning ticket was bought at the Husky Travel Centre in Clairmont.
