More underground work slated for downtown

Downtown construction crews are heading back underground over the next week. Work on water and sewer pipes along 100 Avenue from 100 Street to 101 Street is set to begin. The underground work from 101 Street to 102 Street is already done.

The City of Grande Prairie warns that as the asphalt is removed, businesses in the area will experience vibration and noise. Those businesses along 100 Avenue between 101 Street and 102 Street should be connected to the permanent water supply within one to two weeks.

The contractor has also started putting in gravel in the intersection with 102 Street, and from 101 Street to 100 Street this week. That will be followed by curbs, gutters and paving.

The intersection of 102 Street and 100 Avenue is still closed to traffic in all directions. Drivers are encouraged to use 116 Avenue, 108 Avenue or 84 Avenue to head west across the city. Detours elsewhere downtown are signed.
