B&E suspects lead RCMP on early morning chase

A report of a break and enter in South Patterson ended up taking RCMP on a chase that lasted nearly an hour Tuesday morning. Officers were called to the B&E in progress in the area of 72 Avenue and Poplar Drive a little after 3:45 a.m. on July 3rd.

It’s reported that two men went into a home and assaulted someone, then forced the victim into a vehicle outside. The men left in separate vehicles and police say they were able to track down the one with the victim in it quickly.

That lead to a pursuit that ended on Township Road 705 south of Crooked Creek roughly 50 minutes later when the suspect vehicle drove into the ditch. The suspect fled on foot but was found with the help of Police Dog Services.

He was arrested and charges are pending. A woman that was a passenger in the vehicle was also arrested without incident, and police say the victim wasn’t injured.

RCMP are still looking for the second man suspected in the break and enter. However, Corporal Shawn Graham says details are still preliminary and only a photo is available at this time (see below).
