A group of Peace country co-workers are splitting a $1 million LOTTO MAX win. The 24 won the MAXMILLIONS prize on May 25th from a free ticket they redeemed at the Esso Fairview Service store in Fairview.
Brian Relland had the honour of letting his co-workers know about their big win. He says everyone thought he was joking at first.
“Most of the responses I got back were along the lines of, ‘Right, Brian.’ ‘Sure, Brian.’ If they didn’t believe me before, they do now. It’s really great for our group.”
Most of the other winners hail from Fairview, along with others from Brownvale, Hines Creel, Manning, and Cam Lizee of Grande Prairie. Relland says they’re already making plans for what to do with their windfall, which works about to about $42,000 each.
“Most people are going to put their winnings in savings. Some of us are going to pay some bills; some others are going to put away for their kids’ education. One of the guys just retired, so it was a great parting gift for him!”
