Fire advisories lifted

The fire advisories for the County of Grande Prairie the Grande Prairie Forest Area has been lifted. Both say the current cool humid weather and the forecast for rain to continue through the weekend and early next week means the restriction on fire permits is no longer needed.

The recent weather has also dropped the wildfire danger for the region down to low. The wildfire southwest of Musreau Lake is still under control and crews are working to fully extinguish it.

Since the beginning of wildfire season on March 1st, there have been 28 wildfires recorded in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, burning a total of 13.5 hectares of land. A fire advisory remains for the MD of Greenview.
