Clairmont lagoon work to affect County Sportsplex traffic

Work connecting the Clairmont Lagoon with Grande Prairie’s wastewater system will affect traffic on the way to the Crosslink County Sportsplex for the next five weeks or so. Range Road 62 will be closed from 84 Avenue to 70 Avenue in Clairmont starting Friday.

Crews will be installing a sanitary forcemain, which is an underground pipeline that moves wastewater. It’s part of the Clairmont Lagoon Discharge Project to link Clairmont’s wastewater collection to Aquatera’s larger system in Grande Prairie.

In order to get to the sportsplex and other businesses in the area, the County asks drivers to use 105 Street, 107 Street, 82 Avenue and 79 Avenue. The closure is expected to last until late July.

In total, the lagoon project is billed at $17.3 million and the contract was awarded to local company Mainline Construction in July 2017. Clairmont’s lagoon is over capacity, and the work should also increase capacity for more growth in the northwest section of Grande Prairie.
