Downtown rehab work re-routes Canada Day parade

Construction work in the downtown core will mean some changes to the Canada Day parade route. The city says parade will now move up 108 Avenue from 94 Street to 105 Street.

Staging will take place near Hillside School and parade entries will end up at the Leisure Centre. Previously the parade has traveled through the Hillside neighborhood along 100th Avenue.

The parade will run from 1 p.m. until around 2:30 p.m. on July 1, 2018. Anyone planning to attend the parade is asked to try to avoid parking in the Hillside area or to stick to the east side of the road. Parking will also not be allowed along 108 Avenue.

The city also says road closures will begin in the area around the route about half an hour before the parade starts. They are expected to remain in place until about half an hour after the parade finishes as well.
