UPDATE: Beaverlodge River levels could lead to flooding

UPDATE: The County says an ice jam on the Beaverlodge River upstream of Township Road 720 is causing water levels to rise. They are reportedly consistent with the spring melt, but could cause flooding in areas nearby.

Another road closure has also been issued for Township Road 725 from Highway 724 east to Range Road 81.

Flooding from snow melt continues to be a problem in the MD of Greenview. Barricades and signs have been set up around roads that are affected, and more are expected to become an issue over the next few days.

On Tuesday, staff built trenches in several roads in the Puskwaskau area to prevent water from hitting homes. Any residents who are concerned about flooding at their property can get sand bags from the municipal district by calling the Operations Department at 780-524-7602.

The County of Grande Prairie is also still dealing with flooding and road closures. The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership issued an information alert Wednesday morning warning residents not to move or bypass any barricades, as the road they’re blocking could be eroded or washed out.
