Search continues for missing Hay River man

Hay River RCMP have released more photos of a missing man who may have travelled to the Grande Prairie area. Police now say it’s believed 34 year old Junghwan Park, who also goes by the name David, disappeared from his home in Hay River around 11:30 a.m. on April 3rd.

He was reported missing by his coworkers the next day, and emergency services and volunteers have since embarked on an exhaustive search to find him. In addition to searches of the area by foot, snowmobile, and helicopters, RCMP have also reached out to any drivers who may have picked up someone matching his description from the highway or communities on the way out of the Northwest Territories.

Park is described as being of Korean descent, 5’8″ and 150 pounds with a slight build, short black hair and brown eyes. He speaks Korean with limited English and may be wearing a brown sweater and/or a green Diesel brand jacket, Levis blue jeans, black running shoes, and a dark blue ball cap with a yellow “P” on the front. He may also be wearing glasses.

Mounties say their investigation has lead them to Grande Prairie and Clairmont as two communities the man may have travelled to, but add there’s no evidence to restrict the search to just those places. The public is asked to keep an eye out for him and to call authorities if seen.

“The RCMP’s search for David is strictly to confirm his safety and well-being. We wish to advise anyone who may have had contact with David, and David himself, that we just want them to call the Hay River RCMP so we know he’s safe,” says Marie York-Condon of NT RCMP Media Relations.
