UPDATE: Grande Prairie RCMP say Highway 40 has reopened in both directions. It shut down around 11:50 a.m. due to a five vehicle crash.
Only minor injuries were reported, and those hurt were treated on scene by EMS. The crash is still under investigation and police say all possible factors are being considered.
Highway 40 is closed in both directions at the Wapiti Bridge. Grande Prairie RCMP say there has been a crash involving five vehicles, and they are en route along with firefighters and EMS.
Traffic both north and southbound is blocked, and drivers are warned to either expect delays or find another route. At this time it is unknown if there are any injuries.
