RCMP still looking for suspect from previous Highway 40 shootings

RCMP say they have been unable to find any connections between a Hythe man arrested Friday after a firearms complaint on Highway 40 and previous shootings along the same road. Corporal Shawn Graham says they are still looking for a suspect after three separate shooting incidents were reported in the fall.

RCMP had identified a suspect vehicle in the fall. They are still looking for a black 2007 current model F250/350 with a 6/8 inch lift, black rims and larger wheels. The suspect vehicle also has a red canister in the truck bed (possibly a fire extinguisher) and mud on the lower half of the truck.

40 year-old Cory Stephens was arrested Friday morning after RCMP responded to reports of a man with a gun along the highway. After allegedly pointing his weapon at officers and running to a nearby “oilfield lease” Stephens was arrested without incident and is expected in court February 14, 2018.

RCMP ask anyone with information on this or any of the previous shootings to contact them.
