UPDATE: Wembley boil water advisory lifted

UPDATE #3: The boil water advisory has been lifted as of November 9th. The water samples submitted to Alberta Health Services have come back clean.

UPDATE #2: The Alberta Emergency Alert for Wembley has been cancelled as water has been restored. A boil advisory is now in place pending the results of water testing. Residents should bring water to a rapid rolling boil for one minute before using.

UPDATE: The Town of Wembley has issued a boil water advisory for when its water supply is restored. More information on how to safely use water can be found here.

There has been a water main break in the Town of Wembley. The town’s water supply has been shut off, as it says the poor condition of the older valves means they can’t isolate the issue.

At this point, it is unknown when Public Works will be able to fix the problem, but the town says they are working to do so as quickly as possible. An Alberta Emergency Alert issued at 1:53 p.m. Sunday says the water will be off for at least seven hours.

Residents should not try to use any water from their taps. Drinking water is available at the Wembley Fire Hall.
