Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview region. It says conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms develop late this afternoon, which could bring strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.
Here in Grande Prairie, there’s a 30 percent chance of rain and a risk of a severe thunderstorm this afternoon. Ten to 20 millimetres of rain are in the forecast over night, with a continued risk of a thunderstorm.
Residents are reminded to head indoors if they hear thunder.
