Western Alberta unemployment rate still improving

The unemployment rate in western Alberta continues to drop. The region that houses Grande Prairie and Peace River sat at 6.3 per cent in June, down half a per cent from May and nearly 1.5 per cent from a year ago.

Alberta overall added 7,500 positions in June and saw its jobless rate drop to 7.4 per cent from 7.8 per cent the month before. However, the Calgary region has now had the highest jobless rate in Canada for 12 straight months.
