Fire advisories still in place for Grande Prairie region

With high temperatures in the forecast, the wildfire hazard for the Grande Prairie Forest Area is still high. A fire advisory in effect for the region, including the City and County of Grande Prairie.

There have been no new wildfires in the area over the past 24 hours, but crews are still battling one near Little Smoky. It was found on June 1st nine kilometres southeast of the hamlet and four kilometres east of Highway 43. It was once 4.6 hectares in size but is now 1.94 hectares and considered under control.

Residents are asked to use extreme caution and call 3-10-FIRE if they see smoke in a forested area.
