Benefit event planned to help local man purchase dialysis equipment

A special fundraiser will be held tomorrow night to help a local man with expenses associated with treatment for an Auto Immune Disease. Wayne Landry requires three days of dialysis treatment per week, and because there are a limited number of dialysis machines in the city, getting treatment when they become available cuts into his ability to work. Joanne Garberg, who is one of the organizers of the “Help Wayne Live” benefit, says they are trying to raise enough money so that Wayne can purchase his own dialysis machine.
“And then he can just do the treatments at home at night while he is sleeping. And then this just helps him have a better day, and a better week of working because he is then not stuck having to go to the hospital three times, he can just carry on with a regular week.”
Tickets for the benefit, which is taking place at the Stonebridge Hotel, are 25 dollars each, and include dinner, entertainment, and the chance to bid on a number of auction items.
