The County of Grande Prairie wants to give some recognition to the good news out there.
The county has launched the Kind Heart Awards Program, giving awards to people the community who go out of their way to perform an act of kindness. Norma Jean Steeves was the first person to get one, She was nominated by her neighbour for helping out during an extended illness. Steeves shovelled the walk, mowed the long and brought meals over to her neighbours home. County Councillor Daryl Beeston personally gave her the certificate.
To be eligible for the award, someone has to be nominated by another resident in the community. You can do so through the county’s website or by calling the FCSS.
