Firefighters were able to keep a fire in the Mission Park area to the garage it started in Thursday night. The Grande Prairie Fire Department responded to a house at the corner of 107A Street and 73rd Avenue just after 6 p.m.
When they got there, heavy flames and smoke were coming out of the two car attached garage, but crews were quickly able to knock it down. They also made sure to remove a tank of propane before it could explode.
The fire didn’t spread to the rest of the house, but there was some damage to its neighbour’s siding. Everything in the garage was destroyed, including a boat.
No one was home at the time and the cause is still under investigation.
