Grande Prairie Athletics players earn NPHL honours

Congratulations are in order for five members of the Grande Prairie Athletics, recognized by the North Peace Hockey League Tuesday with awards and spots on the All-Star Team.

Nolan Trudeau was named rookie of the year after ranking third in scoring for the A’s this season. The fourth highest scorer was his brother Ryan, who earned best right wing honours along with a spot on the West Division’s All-Star lineup.

On the other side of the ice, Mac Caron was picked as best left wing. He hit the back of the net more than almost anyone else in the NPHL this year as second in scoring. He’s also the first Athletics’ player to win the award and just narrowly missed out on being voted MVP.

Rounding out the accolades is Tyrell Mason, named to the all-star team as a defenceman for the second time. The NPHL playoffs kick off Tuesday night with the A’s hosting the Spirit River Rangers at the Coca Cola Centre starting at 8:30 p.m.
