A young man accused of using fake money in Whitecourt is facing similar charges in Beaumont. 19 year old Faron Loy Valan was arrested in Whitecourt on Christmas Day.
He was wanted on outstanding warrants and charged with five counts of passing counterfeit currency. Local businesses had had been dealing with bogus cash for the past few months, just like in Beaumont, a town two hours away.
Thanks to a joint investigation with Whitecourt RCMP, Beaumont police have also charged Valan with three counts of uttering counterfeit money. The teen has been released and will next appear in court on January 24th.
