Today marks the first day of Alberta Health Services’ influenza immunization campaign. Residents can get their flu shot for free if they’re over the age of six months old.

Here in Grande Prairie, a clinic is being held at the Public Health Centre from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Other clinics can be found on AHS’ website or by calling Health Link at 8-1-1.

So far this season, there have been 51 confirmed cases of influenza A and 9 cases of influenza B across the province, with no deaths reported. Here in the north zone, there have been 8 confirmed cases, including two people hospitalized.
