Flu season underway in Alberta

Flu season just got started and there have already been six confirmed cases of the flu in the north zone. Alberta Health Services says there has been five cases of influenza A and one case of B so far this season.

Last year, there were 845 cases altogether in the area and 5,311 across Alberta. 62 people died, including six in our region.

AHS will begin influenza immunization at local clinics on October 24th. The vaccine is free for any Albertan that is 6 months of age or older. In the 2015/2016 season there were more than 99,000 vaccinations given out in northern Alberta and over 1.1 million doses across the province.
