County campgrounds closing Friday

Campgrounds across the County of Grande Prairie will be closing tomorrow, but some will be back open for day use in just three weeks. Starting November 5th, residents can visit the Demmitt, Bear Lake, Hommy, Kleskun Hill and Pipestone Creek Campgrounds on Saturdays and Sunday.

There will be free access to day-use shelters, picnic tables, fire pits, restrooms and trails. No overnight camping or parking will be allowed.

Mid-October also marks the closing date for provincial campgrounds, but the government is leaving Saskatoon Island Park open for an extra two weeks as a pilot project.
