New Arbour Hills road name takes a U-turn

The road that the new St. John Paul II Junior Senior Catholic High School will be on has a new proposed name but it will not be named after the school.

Developer with Prudential Lands Scott Pavitz says the company was hoping for the name of the extension of Arbour Hills Boulevard going west into the new development to be named after the school initially. However, this was before it received its long name because their original pick was better fit for a road sign and had a better ring to it.

Bishop Emile Gruoard was who the building was originally named after. The change to St John Paul II came after the Catholic School Board and representatives of the Aboriginal Community met to discuss concerns of residential schools.

Due to addressing issues brought up by city planners, the road could also not be continued in the area as Arbour Hills Boulevard.
