Suncor restocking gas stations after refinery shutdown

Petro-Canada stations across western Canada are getting re-stocked with fuel after an outage at Suncor Energy’s Edmonton refinery. According to the Canadian Press, the partial shutdown of the 142,000 barrels-a-day facility came at the same time that two others in the midwestern U.S. shut down.

There were also supply disruptions from the Fort McMurray wildfire, and all factors led to gas stations from B-C to Manitoba running dry. Some Shell stations and other competitors were also affected.

Extra fuel supplies were brought in by rail and trucks to help out with the shortage, as gas prices spiked. Suncor says fuel stocks will be replenished in a matter of days. Crude production in the Fort Mac area is also expected to return to normal by the end of June.
