Roberts only local fighter to prevail at XFFC 9: Conviction

Spencer Jebb may have lost his fight at the Entrec Centre Friday night, but he doesn’t believe it’s a setback for his career. He dropped a split decision to Ultimate Fighter contestant Michael Hill, a result he disagrees with.

“Judges can easily be fooled by things. I mean, I took him down three times; I just about knocked him out; I dropped him on his butt, so if that doesn’t win rounds, I’m not sure.”

Jebb argues the judges may have been fooled by a cut he got on his face early in the fight. However, he doesn’t believe the loss will hurt his career as Hill is ranked higher than him.

“He’s a top ten guy. It’s good for me because the big promotions want to see fights like that; that was a very entertaining fight we put on. It didn’t propel me forward by any means, but it didn’t set me back either.”

The only local fighter to come away with a win at Xcessive Force Fighting Championship 9 was Grande Prairie’s Jordan Roberts. He submitted Ryan Moore with a guillotine choke with a 1:15 left in the first round.

GP’s Randy Mahon was submitted by an arm bar in the first round while 43 year old Louis Martinez lost by unanimous decision in his debut fight at Evergreen Park.
