Grande Prairie Ritchie Bros. auction attracts nearly 5,000 bidders

Every item at Thursday’s Ritchie Bros. auction Grande Prairie sold without a minimum bid or reserve price. More than 2,100 pieces of equipment and trucks were up for bid, including over 40 farm tractors and 10 combines.

The auction was more focused on agriculture than the largest ever held in Grande Prairie in March, which included two oil and gas company dispersals. Ritchie Brothers hasn’t released how much the sale raised, but says it was another multi-million dollar event.

It attracted nearly 5,000 people to bid, with 40 per cent of the equipment going to out of province buyers from as far away as Egypt, Romania and Thailand. The next GP auction is set for June 1st and 2nd.
