Peace Academy of Virtual Education gets new principal

Peace-Wapiti students taking classes online can look forward to working with a new principal in September.

Superintendent Sheldon Rowe says Sexsmith Secondary Principal Jason Caufield will be taking over at Peace Academy of Virtual Education, or PAVE for short.

“Jason’s kind of the next step. He’s going to be looking after kids that are looking for alternative education experiences. Some of them will pick the online program, some will pick the alternative ed program, but the goal’s the same: high school completion.”

The online learning program is available to help students learn outside of a regular classroom setting.

Caufield’s role will be expanded from his predecessor’s, to include alternative education and support for career practitioners.

The school division is excited for him to make the switch, as he has experience in career counselling, and choosing alternative paths.
