Sexsmith man injured in pedestrian hit and run

Grande Prairie RCMP are looking for witnesses to a pedestrian hit and run Tuesday evening. A 59 year old Sexsmith man was struck at 100th Street and 132nd Avenue around 5:20 p.m.

Police say a white semi-truck towing two trailers was stopped for a red light at 132nd Avenue. When the light turned green it started moving and hit the man who was still walking along the road.

The truck did not stop and the man was sent to hospital with minor injuries to his leg. The incident is still under investigation and anyone who may have seen anything is asked to contact the detachment or Crime Stoppers.

Pedestrians are reminded to use sidewalks and cross walks where possible and to make eye contact with drivers to make sure they see you before stepping into a road.
