Clerk attacked with bear spray after armed robbery

When a grocery store clerk tried to stop an armed robber in Grande Prairie, he got a face full of bear spray. A masked man holding the spray stole a bag of money from East Side Grocery just before 10 p.m. Thursday night.

As he fled the shop, he ran into the side of a vehicle that was passing by, separating him from the loot. The suspect continued running towards Vista Village, and when the store clerk tried to take him down, they got attacked with the pepper spray.

The thief is described as Aboriginal, six feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black mask, blue jeans and a black jacket with fur on the collar.

RCMP remind residents that following someone suspected of a crime is dangerous. East Side grocery was robbed by a man with a knife in November 2015.
