Alberta flu deaths up to 10

There have been three more flu deaths in Alberta. So far there have been 10 this season – 7 in Edmonton and three in Calgary.

Alberta Health Services says all of the new deaths were caused by the H-1-N-1 strain, and two of the three hadn’t been immunized. The third was a 65 year old who had their flu shot.

There have been 154 lab confirmed cases of influenza A in the north zone, with 15 cases of influenza B. While 31 people from the region have been admitted to hospital, there have been no deaths so far.

More than one million Albertans have received the flu shot this season.
