The province is looking for people to take part in the next round of Bill 6 consultations. Six working groups are needed to figure out how to apply OHS and employment standards to farms and ranches. Representatives from the ag sector, labour groups and technical experts are needed. Each group will be chaired by someone who should be independent and impartial.
The Bill was introduced last November, but was not well received by farmers and ranchers, who came out to town hall meetings to voice their fears, anger, and frustration. Its mandate is to have all non-owner and non-family paid farm employees covered by Workers Compensation Board coverage and Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
