No plans for Uber in Grande Prairie

Uber has said it wants to be in every city in Alberta with a population over 50,000 by the end of the year, but it doesn’t look like the Swan City is in its sights. Uber Technologies operates a mobile app that connects customers with drivers that use their own personal vehicle to transport them for a fee.

Spokesperson Jean-Christophe de la Rue says they don’t have specific launch plans for Grande Prairie. However, he adds the company it aims to expand to communities across Canada in the hopes of having safe, affordable and reliable rides available everywhere.

A recent study by the Angus Reid Institute found that about half of the Albertans polled think Uber should operate in their city, with the majority wanting to see them regulated in the same way as taxis.
