Clairmont RCMP to host its Cram-a-Cruiser event this weekend in support of the Sexsmith area foodbank.
On Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8, the Clairmont RCMP will be in Grande Prairie taking donations for the food bank in Sexsmith.
Officers will be set-up at the Save-On-Foods, looking to fill their cruiser with non-perishables and more.
Sgt. Patrick McPhee has done a handful of different Cram-A-Cruiser events in the city, he says events like this one is super awarding to him as a police officer.
“For me as a police officer, its probably one of the most rewarding things that I’ve experienced in Grande Prairie, and it really kind of emphasizes the heart of the community and area. People come out and support fellow residents in the city and the area.”
McPhee added that this time of year is crucial to helping out the people who may need to use the foodbanks.
“We know that the need for our foodbanks has gone up through the roof.”
“We need to get out there and support our surrounding communities, and you know with the transition it actually pointed us to kind of support our outlined communities a little bit more.”
During the two-day fundraiser, Save-On-Foods will be preparing pre-made bags for purchase for people to bring to the cruiser.
