County searching for 2027 Farm Family of the year

The County of Grande Prairie is searching for its next Farm Family of the Year.

With harvest season almost over, the County of Grande Prairie is asking residents to help find its next Farm Family of the Year, an honour that has celebrated local agriculture for nearly six decades.

The award recognizes families who use sustainable farming practices, find innovative ways to meet challenges, and make lasting contributions to their rural communities.

“Our farm families plan around short seasons, unpredictable weather and markets they can’t control, yet they still find time to coach the hockey team, organize the fall supper, and lend a hand or a piece of equipment when a neighbour needs it,” says County of Grande Prairie Reeve Amanda McDonald. “This award is an opportunity to say thank you to the people who do so much for our communities. All it takes to get started is a few minutes to nominate someone who deserves to be recognized.”

Nominations are open currently, and will stay open until December 1.

The 2027 Farm Family will be honoured at the Farm Family Banquet during the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show at Evergreen Park on Friday, March 12, 2027.
