Pembina to invest $120,000 towards Grande Prairie Regional Career Collegiate

Pembina to invest $120,000 over three years towards the Grande Prairie Regional Career Collegiate.

The investment will focus on two different areas, one is to directly enhance hand-on opportunities for students. The second is dual credit tuition support, helping students earn post-secondary credits and industry recognized training while still enrolled in high school.

Pembina has committed $40,000 each year, for three years towards the Grande Prairie Regional Career Collegiate (GPRCC).

In addition to the financial contribution, Pembina has committed to supporting educational experiences through industry engagement opportunities, including guest speakers, facility tours and, where possible, job-site visits. Officials say those experiences will help students gain valuable insight into career pathways and workforce opportunities.

“This investment represents the kind of industry partnership that strengthens opportunities for students and helps prepare them for successful futures,” said Roger Lauck, Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools. “By supporting hands-on learning, dual credit programming and meaningful industry connections, Pembina is helping students explore career pathways, develop valuable skills and build confidence as they transition to post-secondary education and the workforce.”

Supervisor with Pembina, Ryley Hommy says that by supporting the GPRCC program, they help give students more hands-on exposure.

“We know that when students have the chance to see and experience the real-world applications of their studies, it opens doors for them. By supporting GPRCC, we want to give students the hands-on exposure they need to confidently build their future.”

GPRCC is a collaborative initiative involving Grande Prairie and District Catholic School Division, Grande Prairie Public School Division and Peace Wapiti Public School Division. The Collegiate provides students with opportunities to explore careers, earn dual credits, gain industry
certifications and develop skills that align with regional workforce needs.
