Public Safety Communications Centre moves to City on 99th

The City of Grande Prairie’s Public Safety Communications Centre has moved into its new location at City on 99th.

The communications centre will provide police call-taking and dispatch services alongside its existing emergency communications responsibilities.

As part of that expanded role, the centre will begin dispatching City Enforcement Services and Mobile Outreach, as well.

“When someone reaches out for help, it matters that there are people on the other end of that call who know and understand our community,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton.

“This move is another step in building a regionally connected public safety system, with people from our community helping their neighbours when they need it most.”

Residents who may need to request City Enforcement Services or Mobile Outreach is asked to call the appropriate service directly, Enforcement Services can be reached at 780-830-5790, and Mobile Outreach can be reached at 780-830-7094.

Despite the changes, the city is still reminding residents that if you do have an emergency, to call 9-1-1.

The Grande Prairie Police Service is expected to become the police of jurisdiction on October 21.
