Residents who are new to public transit or want to feel more comfortable using Grande Prairie Transit can take part in a free Transit Discovery Tour this month.
The City of Grande Prairie is offering two guided, hands-on tours, on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 18, from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
Participants will ride a city bus and learn practical skills including how to pay fares, use passes, transfer between routes, plan trips, request stops and use accessibility features. The tour will also cover navigating the Town Centre Mall Transit Hub.
Each tour begins and ends at the Grande Prairie Public Library and includes an indoor Transit 101 session where participants can ask questions about the transit system.
The tours will also include stops featuring organizations in Passport to Grande Prairie. Participants can hear from community representatives about available services and collect Passport stamps along the way.
Light snacks and beverages will be provided, and participants will have a chance to win door prizes.
