City looking for feedback as municipal budget engagement underway

You can have their say on how the city should spend money as planning gets underway for the 2027 municipal budget.

The City of Grande Prairie launched its budget engagement process Tuesday, asking residents to identify priorities for municipal services, programs and infrastructure.

Residents can take part online by completing a budget prioritization tool, reviewing their municipal tax breakdown, submitting ideas and asking questions of city administration.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said public input is an important part of the budget process.

“We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to share their priorities and help inform decisions that will shape our community,” Clayton said.

Residents can also attend an in-person engagement session Sept. 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Eastlink Centre to speak with city staff, ask questions and provide feedback.

The online engagement is open until Oct. 1. The feedback will be considered by city council during the 2027 budget planning process.
