One of two new TC Energy projects announced could have a big impact here in the Peace Region.
The projects located, northwest of Grande Prairie, and Edson will add 33 kilometres of new pipeline and a 30-megawatt electric powered compressor station, delivering approximately 400 MMcf/d of incremental capacity while enhancing system reliability.
Officials added that the two projects combine for over $500 million dollars in investments.
TC Energy says that the project created 775 jobs at peak construction, including roughly 100 Indigenous employees and contractors.
TC Energy added that $4.4 million in annual property tax revenue was generated during construction, from across Grande Prairie County, Saddle Hills County and the MD of Greenview.
“Valhalla North and Berland River represent more than new infrastructure—they reflect the commitment and expertise of our people and our continued investment in Alberta’s energy future,” said TC Energy President Trevor Ebl. “These projects strengthen the NGTL System and help meet growing needs of our customers by expanding the network required to move natural gas safely and reliably to market.”
Officials say these projects help demonstrate how investing in critical energy infrastructure can support strong communities and a strong economy.
