Construction for the replacement of the Peace Wapiti Academy is scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2027.
On July 9, the Alberta Government announced 41 different school projects. Included in the projects, was confirmation that the PWA replacement will be fast-tracked.
Peace Wapiti Public School Division Board Chair Lori Grant says she is thrilled with the news.
“We have been working toward this moment for a long time. We are proud to be able to offer our students a new space where they can learn and grow.”
County Reeve, Amanda McDonald says this is a key milestone for the students.
“The County of Grande Prairie congratulates Peace Wapiti Public School Division on the Province of Alberta’s announcement advancing the replacement of Peace Wapiti Academy.”
“This is an important milestone for students, families and staff, and it reflects what can be achieved through strong advocacy and partnership. Ensuring residents have access to high-quality educational opportunities close to where they live helps strengthen families and supports the development of safe, active, and connected communities in our County.”
The replacement will be fast-tracked through the Province’s School Now program.
