Children’s craft sessions return to Reverend Forbes Homestead

Families will have another opportunity to combine history, reading and creativity this summer as children’s craft sessions return to the Reverend Forbes Homestead in Grande Prairie.

The sessions will be held during select Homestead Tea dates on July 22, July 29, Aug. 12 and Aug. 20. Children ages five to 10 can take part at no additional cost with a Homestead Tea reservation.

Following tea, children will hear a story from a local children’s author before participating in a themed craft or hands-on activity inspired by the book. All craft materials are provided, and parents or caregivers are welcome to join the activities.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said the program offers families an opportunity to experience one of Grande Prairie’s historic landmarks while encouraging young readers through activities featuring local authors.

The Reverend Forbes Homestead is the oldest home in Grande Prairie and includes the community’s first hospital.
