County streamlines application process for Connected Community Grant

The County of Grande Prairie’s Council has streamlined the application process for their Connected Community Grant.

During the Monday, July 13 Council meeting, Council approved an updated policy that consolidates existing grants into one application process with three funding streams: Community Vibrancy and Wellness; Emergent Funding Requests; and Sponsorship, Donations and Community Support Requests.

The county says that the grant helps supports projects, programs, events, and facilities that are open and accessible to the county residents and enhance community well-being, recreation, culture, safety, and community connections.

“These changes will help the County better support the community groups and non-profits that keep our region thriving,” says Hayley Kramps, Director of Recreation and Culture. “By reducing the number of grant applications, applicants get to focus on making their projects a success, leading to better outcomes for everyone.”

Some of the eligible initiatives for the grant include; beautification projects, community gardens, and neighbourhood ice surfaces, wellness and safety initiatives, such as Rural Crime Watch programs, festivals, agricultural fairs, cultural events, competitions, graduation celebrations, and large-scale community events.

For information about the grants can be found on the county’s website.
