Aquatera and the City of Grande Prairie have teamed up to install a dedicated fire hydrant at the Sunrise House.
Officials say with the new installation of the hydrant, it will provide the Sunrise House with enhanced safety for youth, staff and visitors at the facility.
The new hydrant strengthens emergency preparedness at the facility by ensuring immediate access to water in the event of a fire or other emergency. Officials added that the project reflects a shared commitment among community partners to support the safety and well-being of vulnerable youth in the region.
“This project demonstrates what can be accomplished when organizations work together to address community needs,” said Chief Executive Officer of Aquatera, Vaughn Bend. “By partnering with the City of Grande Prairie and Sunrise House, we were able to provide important infrastructure that will help support the long-term safety of the youth and staff who rely on this facility every day.”
The Sunrise House provides immediate safety and stability for young people experiencing homelessness, family conflict, abuse, neglect, mental health challenges and other crises.
