The Grande Prairie Public Library will once again transform into a medieval-inspired village later this month as it hosts its second annual Fables & Faeries Renaissance Faire.
The free, family-friendly event takes place Sunday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library and will feature a mix of fantasy-themed activities, live entertainment and local vendors.
Visitors can take part in crafts, riddle hunts, hobby horse jousting, costume contests and storytelling throughout the day. Scottish entertainers Angus and Dolina will also teach traditional ceilidh dancing.
A vendor market will be set up in Teresa Sargent Hall, while additional activities, including sword-play demonstrations and interactive games, will take place throughout the library.
Community Outreach Librarian Kate Renfree said the event is designed to bring stories to life for visitors of all ages.
“Stories are important. They bring us hope and wonder, and we hope that this faire offers the chance for everyone to bring stories to life.”
The costume contest begins at noon. Additional information, including contest rules, is available on the Grande Prairie Public Library website.
