The county says they awarded $199,395 towards 60 non-profit organizations and volunteer groups. Additionally they also granted $40,000 in cemetery improvement grants.

“Our volunteers and non-profit groups are the heart of our community. They give their time, energy, and care to make our County a better place for everyone,” says County Reeve Amanda McDonald. “We are proud to support their work, and we’re pleased to provide funding that helps these organizations and individuals continue making a difference in our region.”

Some of the total funding went to the groups of:

The Clairmont-Bezanson Recreation Board ($33,670)

Beaverlodge-Elmworth-Huallen Recreation Board ($33,990)
Grande Prairie Area Recreation Board ($40,435)
Wembley-Dimsdale-Saskatoon Lake Recreation Board ($35,000)

To qualify for funding, groups must be open to the county’s residents, they must also provide proof of volunteerism and fundraising, and work toward clear goals. Applications can be found through any of the six county recreation boards and are open to community groups, non-profits, municipalities, schools and sports clubs.
