The County of Grande Prairie is encouraging residents to get active during parks and recreation month.
During the month of June, the county is participating in a nationwide challenge, with the winning municipality receiving $100,000 towards local sports and physical activity initiatives.
The challenge is called the ParticipACTION Community Challenge. During the initiative, residents can follow weekly activity-related themes throughout the month. Some of the themes range from walking and gentle movement to participating in a sport.
“This challenge is open and accessible for everyone,” says Hayley Kramps, Director of Recreation and Culture at the County. “Whether it’s hitting the gym or going for a walk in your community, or logging minutes while your child is at the playground, it all counts.”
You can log your minutes through the county’s website.
More information regarding the initative can be found on their website.
